How do I order a book?

You may order books directly from Xlibris, through popular online book sellers, or at the ordering desk of your local bookstore.

Is there a minimum quantity for orders?

No. You can order as few as one copy at a time.

How much does a book cost?

This seems high. Why?

We print books as they are ordered in quantities as low as one copy: your book is printed just for you. Traditional publishers print books in huge quantities; therefore, the cost they must recoup per book is lower. These prices are still within the normal bookstore range for paperbacks and hardbacks.

Is there a discount for booksellers?

We offer industry standard discounts for booksellers: 20% on hardback and 40% on paperback Black & White Books, and 20% on hardback and 35% on paperback Full Color Books. For orders through the channels we offer a deep discount to the retailer of 48%.

How much would I pay if I ordered copies of my own book?

When you order copies of your book you are entitled to an author discount in place of receiving royalties. The author discount ranges from 30% to 60% depending on the number of copies ordered. Who sets the price for my book?

Xlibris automatically sets the price for your book, based on page count and book type. This cost is directly related to the cost of production. If you would like to set the retail price of your book and your corresponding royalties, you can take advantage of the Set Your Own Price add-on service.

Does Xlibris still publish e-books?

As of October 1, 2003, Xlibris ceased providing e-books for sale. Over the past several years we had offered thousands of e-books, and our customers have made their wishes known. Very few people were interested in purchasing e-books. They accounted for less than a half of a percent of books sold with Xlibris during the time we offered them for sale. And of that tiny amount, more than half of those people call us up, asking how they can print out their e-book - something that defeats the very purpose of providing an electronic medium for conveying literary content.

Should interest in this form of reading media increase, we may offer e-books again in the future. However, at this time the interest is not at a level that would support this product. If you have any questions about this decision, please feel free to contact us at orders@xlibris.com.
