Who is eligible to receive volume discounts?
Volume discounts are available to authors only. Direct customers, wholesalers, and
resellers are eligible to receive a different set of discounts.
How are the author volume discounts calculated?
Volume discounts are calculated based on the number of books purchased as a part of one single order. The discounts apply to one title and one book type only. The discounts are as follows:
*
If you are interested in ordering more than 1,500 trade paperbacks, please contact the Book Orders Customer Service Line at 1-888-795-4274 for a custom offset quote.
It is important to note that different titles cannot be mixed to receive a higher discount. So if an author purchases 50 trade paperbacks of their book, they are eligible for a 45% discount off of the retail price of the book. But if they buy 25 copies of one book and 25 copies of another book, they are eligible for the 40% discount for each set of 25 copies of the different titles. The same rules apply for mixing hardcovers and trade paperbacks in the same order – different book types cannot be mixed to achieve a higher discounted price.
Are these books printed offset?
For volumes over 2,500 copies, your books are printed offset. For
volumes under 2,500 copies, we continue to utilize print-on-demand
technology.
Will the offset-printed
books look different from the POD books?
Yes, there will be some small differences. The high quality of Xlibris
books will not be diminished. You will still receive a perfect bound
book, using 50 lb. interior stock, and 80 lb. laminated stock for
the cover. However the size of the offset books will be slightly
different. Our POD books are 8.5 inches by 5.5 inches and 6 inches
x 9 inches. The books we produce via the offset printers can be
just slightly smaller than both dimensions and what you have received
in the past.
How will delivery work?
For orders under 2,500 books, normal shipping policies and rates
apply. Your books will be shipped via UPS Ground Service for delivery
to the location you provide us (no P.O. Boxes, please). For orders
over 3,000 copies, it may be more economical to send your books
via freight shippers. In these cases, shipping will be quoted individually
based on delivery location.
Can I be billed for these orders?
Sorry, but our ordering policy remains the same. For Xlibris to produce books we
need one of three things:
Your credit card number
A check
A money order
Once we receive your payment, we will move ahead and produce your books.
Can I split the order between different titles and still get the discount?
Xlibris is able to offer these discounts primarily because of the savings given
when a large block of a single title is ordered. Therefore, we cannot split the
order between different titles and still provide the same discount.
Does it take longer to produce
these large volumes of books?
The normal turnaround time for a trade paperback order is 15 business
days for the production of the book, plus 3 to 5 business days for
shipment. This holds true for orders up to 2499 books. For orders
over 2,500 books – when we use offset printing technology – the
turnaround time will be significantly longer. For orders this large,
should expect to receive your books 6 to 10weeks after you order
them. Please keep in mind time required to proof your galley prior
to final offset run.
What if I would like to get more than 3,000 copies of my book?
Should you wish to place an order of that size, Xlibris will contact our printer
to provide you with a price quote. Because of variables like paper costs and
press availability, you will need to let Xlibris know how many copies you are
looking for, as well as when you will need the books. Please do keep in mind that
offset press runs take significantly longer than print-on-demand.
Are there similar discounts for hardcovers?
Xlibris is continuing to offer incremental volume discounts for orders over 10
hardcovers. Should you be interested in more than 250 copies of your hardcover,
we can acquire quotes to determine if our printers can provide better discounts.
