Author Alterations & Corrections Service
Xlibris encourages all of our authors to submit the final text, quality images and all design requests and suggestions at the outset of the publishing process. Making editorial or content changes adds both time and money to the publication process. We encourage you to have your book professionally edited before submission. If you have not had your book professionally edited, we recommend the Xlibris Copyediting service.
Even with a professional edit, there may be times when you need to make changes you did not foresee. To add flexibility to the self-publishing process and to ensure your satisfaction with your published book, Xlibris offers the Author Alterations & Corrections service.
An Author Alteration is defined as a change to your text while your book is still in production prior to the approval of the final galley proof. Think of Author Alterations as small or spot corrections, such as fixing typos, adding in missing words, and so on.
The Xlibris Author Alterations & Corrections service is slightly different for our Black & White Publishing and Full-Color Publishing services:
Black & White Publishing service features and specifications:
- Base fee of $25 for each round of corrections to your book’s interior layout or text, plus $2 per alteration
- Base fee of $25 for each round of corrections to your book’s cover
- Includes additional galley or cover proof (whichever is appropriate)
- Clear instructions and information included with galley proof delivery
- Alteration of production files and final printing files to reflect changes
NOTE: Because your book exists electronically, you can change or update your content even after it has been published. So if new information comes to light or details change, you can make sure that your work is kept up-to-date. Corrections requested after publication are classified as post-publication revision services and are available for a flat fee of $249.
Full-Color Publishing service features and specifications:
- Base fee of $50 for each round of corrections to your book’s interior layout or text, or cover
- Each additional correction within a round of corrections costs an additional $2
- Includes additional galley or cover proof (whichever is appropriate)
- Clear instructions and information included with galley proof delivery
- Ability to make text edits, color and font changes, and image and design alterations
- Alteration of production files and final printing files to reflect changes
NOTE: Full-Color post-publication revision services are available for a flat fee of $349.
