Description

This story is about a woman who solves the mystery of her mother´s death through dream interpretations. In doing so, she liberates herself from the trauma that has haunted her all her life, and grows spiritually as well as emotionally. Despite the serious theme, there are many light moments as the main characters interact with love and humor, and the ending has a surprising twist. The book satisfies mystery fans and also opens readers´ minds to dream analysis, lucid dreaming, and soul communications. It also offers comfort and hope for the bereaved, by highlighting love connections across dimensions.

The main character, April Kenyon, has a lot of problems. She has lived with the idea that her father murdered her mother when she was only five years old. Her grandmother, who raised her after that terrible time, has passed away. She works at a boring secretarial job to raise her fourteen-year-old son, Evan, with few opportunities to develop her potential.

Now, a series of disturbing dreams starts April on the way to a remarkable set of revelations. She helps Evan with a dream analysis project for his middle school teacher, which leads her to discover why she constantly dreams of her mother´s death. Then a surprising phone call opens up the possibility that her father might not have killed her mother after all. Evan’s teacher, Ben, who is fascinated by dream analysis, becomes April’s dream counselor and love interest. The three of them start to do detective work to find April’s long-lost father and to discover what really happened to April’s mother.

The story is part murder-mystery, part new-age exploration of dreams and soul life. April learns to deal with the terrible memories of her past through dream analysis, connecting with her mother’s spirit, and relying on the help of her son and her new-found lover. She is eventually able to figure out what really happened on that fateful day in her past, and overcomes the bitter trauma that has haunted her for years. There are many twists along the way in solving the mystery of her mother’s death, with a most surprising ending--things are never what they seem. The story is an analogy on life itself, with much food for thought on eternal love and connecting across life-and-death dimensions.
