A BOOK OF CREATURE DITTIES
is a book alive with alliteration (the repetition of letter sounds in phrases or sentences), rhythm, rhyme and song, along with simple, child-friendly whimsical illustrations. Children will find these twenty-six smooth-flowing alphabetical ditties
delightful to read, re-read, memorize and sing. . . or just listen to. Teachers, music teachers and parents alike will
appreciate the opportunities to use this as a learning tool for teaching letter sounds, reading and language skills.
Research has demonstrated that this kind of word play stimulates recall and maximizes memory.
Each little ditty can be sung to the alphabet tune. Just sing the first four lines, pause and say, "Oh", and repeat
lines one and two. For added fun slow down and emphasize the last couple of words. Add accompaniment and children
will be flying high with one "song" after another. They´ll be singing, "Oh what fun it is to sing with a Book of Creature
Ditties"!
Written intentionally to both stimulate and encourage young learners, this little book is sure to be effective as an engaging
way to teach children the basics of reading without making it seem like a lesson. Put some spring in your children´s literacy
steps with these adorable and fun ditties and watch them master letter sounds and see them on their way towards better
reading skills.
*Studies have shown that the academic performance, including reading comprehension, for young American students
leaves much to be desired. Whatever is causing this alarming trend, one thing is for sure: if students don´t learn the basics
properly, what comes after will be affected as well. So jump start your children´s literacy learning with author and educator Lori Lee Ericson´s engaging picture book A Book of Creature Ditties for "Fun-to-Mental" learning.
