White Shark Sam Meets the Monster Man is a children“s story about trust, friendship and conservation. It is inspired by Frank Mundus“ continuing efforts to encourage and popularize shark tagging research.
Frank Mundus was nicknamed the "Monster Man" by his fellow fishermen because back in 1951 he started the sport of fishing for sharks, which were considered monsters back in those days. In the mid-1960s, he helped get the shark tagging program started in cooperation with the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) in Narragansett, Rhode Island.
