Description
“Voice of the Spirit”
is the first book of its kind. Blending Native American Indian knowledge and high-quality photography of Indian Country scenes that sensitively feature America’s first people.
Native America’s unique culture and spirit is presented through a fascinating collection of color photographs that are accompanied with inspirational quotes given by Native People such as Chief Joseph, Crazy Horse, Tecumseh and many others. These insightful short readings speak of the honoring of our earth, fairness for all mankind and freedom of spirituality. Wisdom that reminds us of the courage to never give up and of course the good sense of humor that is so prevalent among Native People.
Gathered in this volume,
“Voice of the Spirit”
displays a rich selection of 97 color photographs, taken by one sole photographer, that are her favorite choices. This stunning collection of current color images will take your imagination to places that even famous ethnographer and photographer Edward S. Curtis would envy. Brilliant visuals of intimate close-ups mingle with grand long shots that are complemented by exclusively selected First Nations expressions. Each image is created by a marvelous partnership of both photographer and tribal historic re-enactors or Native models of all ages. A nice selection of images display unique artifacts created by American Indian artisans of today and yesterday.
With a strong appreciation for back-country landscapes and a love for America’s first people photographer Marilyn Angel Wynn shoots primarily from her heart. “Every tribal land that I visit has its own unique stories from the past”, says Wynn. Armed with her cameras and personality Wynn documents Native Communities throughout Indian Country. As the leading provider of Native American Indian pictures, Wynn contributes photographs to the who’s who in publishing through her company Nativestock Pictures. Wynn comments, “Everyday I thank Americas First Peoples for their enriching contributions”.
Photo captions are included under each picture to identify a persons name, their tribal heritage, location and interesting tidbits of information. Through
“Voice of the Spirit”
Native Americans retain their cultural and historic identity and echo pride for their ancestor’s accomplishments and contributions to society. Because it takes both photographer and native model to create these beautiful pictures, any fees earned are shared 50/50.
“Voice of the Spirit”
should be on everyone’s coffee table or as a personal addition to your library collection.
“Voice of the Spirit”
will make wonderful gifts for your family and friends that share an interest in Native America, history, words of wisdom, travel, self-help, poetry or the arts.
“Voice of the Spirit”
is available in both hard cover and softbound. This book will grab you and stay in your soul long after you put it down.
Based out of her Idaho horse ranch, Photographer Marilyn Angel Wynn, enjoys country-living and horseback riding along Rocky Mountain trails. Her splendid career of documenting Indian Country, its people and artifacts, did not exist until created by Wynn, who comments, “If you photograph what you most care about then it will show in your pictures”.
Wynn is available for book signings, lecture presentations and gallery exhibits.
Many of the sensitive portrayals found in
“Voice of the Spirit”
are available as postcards, blank note cards and gallery prints of all sizes. You can visit
