Using My Muse
by Loyd C. Taylor
From author Loyd C. Taylor comes Using My Muse, a reflection of his various thoughts and concepts about life, family, friends, God, etc.
This is a family–friendly book, which the author hopes will be enjoyed by people of all ages. It contains a variety of works from the spiritual to the humorous and from the deep to the simple. Some of the poems reflect a part of his life that is absolutely true, while others are total fiction; he leaves it up to the reader to determine which is which.
“Much of the inspiration for my poems came to me as I sat alone thinking of family and friends. In your thoughts and memories, for just a brief while you can go back, relive the good times, the fun times, and the sad times. I thank God that we are able to record our thoughts to remind us in the future of the blessings of the past,” Taylor says.
For a while now, I’ve been privileged to read Loyd’s poetry, which reveals so much about his spirit and character. His poems about his love for country and his faith in God are stirring, and his poetry about his family and the importance of tradition in their lives is always heartwarming.
Loyd writes straight from the heart, sometimes with pathos, sometimes with humor, but always with the poet’s touch. His work features beautiful cadence and rhyming and rich descriptive detail.
His family–friendly poems can be shared with one’s children or one’s grandparents. They are well written, warm, and thoroughly enjoyable.—Brooke Baldwin
