About the Book

Every Boy Scout camp has its unique history, and this is the story of one of them—the Curtis S. Read Scout Reservation, located since 1948 in upstate New York’s beautiful and historic Adirondack Mountains.

Spearheaded by senior writer John R. Farley, For Joys We’ll Ne’er Forget is an amusingly collaborated memory book written by happy campers who, as staff members, lived parts of the history at Curtis S. Read Scout Reservation.

With its title coined from a line of a famous camp song, For Joys We’ll Ne’er Forget is a mixture of fact, nostalgia and youthful dreams. This book is a result of thoughts, ideas, information, and suggestions by many scouts, former staff members, and other interested people intending to provide a lasting record of what went on in this extraordinary camp from the day it opened in 1920 on Long Pond, New York to the present.

Inclusive of camp symbols, songs, and heartwarming pictures, this account includes fun filled memories and foolish antics of the campers.

Commissioned by the Camp Read Association, this special album celebrates the camp’s treasured experiences and also offers valuable information to those who had never gone to camp.
