About The Author
In 1983, David Kibuuka immigrated to Canada where he completed his studies at the Ontario College of Art and Design. Over the past 20 years, David has owned and operated art galleries in Toronto and Los Angeles. His loyal clientele consists of collectors from the business, sports and entertainment communities.
David’s humanitarian efforts supported a worldwide fundraising effort by UNICEF in the years 1990-1993. Four of his images decorated greeting art cards which were sold worldwide to benefit UNICEF. In 2005 he collaborated with World Vision Canada and Artistic Canada, using his images to produce posters to raise money for the benefit of the “Hope Initiative” which provides prevention, care and advocacy programs for children and other victims of the HIV/AIDS pandemic in Africa. In 2007, he founded the Lumu Kabasindi Foundation (www.lumu.org) to directly raise funds for HIV/AIDS orphans in Uganda (East Africa).
He is passionate about teaching Modern Batik Art Technique to the next generation of artists. His workshops have been held in the USA, Canada, Africa, Europe, and in several Caribbean countries. Visit his online gallery at www.modernbatikartworkshops.com .
