“I believe that you create your own reality – that is, events of your life aren’t random occurrences. Things don’t just happen to you; everything comes from you. I believe that there is purpose everywhere, even if you don’t see it or can’t figure it out, and even when things appear to make no sense .”

Warren Goldie, author of the self-published novel, Waking Maya, expressed his philosophies of life with a passion that is evident in his love for nature, his daughter Meghan and the cosmos .
“Some people believe the universe is a chaotic, meaningless affair, that the soul has no reality, that physical life is all there is,” he explained. “If that is your view then you live each day with the thought that one day you will be annihilated. I believe in the continuation of consciousness after death, that I’m in some kind of ongoing process, and so that view affects my decisions.”
This spiritual inspiration generated the impetus for Warren Goldie to author Waking Maya. He decided to write a book for his daughter when thoughts of how he would spend his last days on Earth came to his mind just before she was born.

Warren said Waking Maya is a kind of extended personal letter to her. He hoped that she might be able to use it someday, seeing that the book employs much of what he strongly has faith in.
The cause of the fast-paced change taking place in the physical world today gradually becomes evident as readers experience Waking Maya page after page. This New Age mystery weaves through a young woman’s search for truth, meaning, and adventure that culminates in an unveiling of life’s puzzles that one did not know existed until the reader starts to travel along with the character. The best way to explore these ideas is to materialize them into a personal and intimate journey that can be shared with others.
Warren Goldie, known for his essays on consciousness and human potential published in numerous publications, had been seeking companies to get Waking Maya published, and his search led him to meet someone who showed him a self-published poetry book by Xlibris. He liked how it turned out and hired Xlibris to publish his book.
“I liked the idea that I would control the rights,“ Warren claimed. “With self-publishing, you have control of the project. No one but you can change the book or the cover art. You determine what is in it, how it looks, and how you can sell it. Another thing is you must be patient with the process because there are a lot of steps. You should make sure your book is completely ready when you start the process. If I wanted to sell to a traditional publisher at some point I could do that.”
Warren was satisfied with how Xlibris produced Waking Maya and admitted how professional the entire production process went from the publication services to the people who handled his book. He said that self-publishing companies should be efficient, producing quality products, and resourceful in distributing the book for sale, especially to major resellers like Amazon.com.
Goldie’s self-published book taps into a deep dimension of the human psyche and Amazon.com is not the only one who took notice of its potential. BookReview.com rated Waking Maya as a Must Read and awarded it Book of the Month.
“Reading it triggers knowledge you hold within yourself, it resonates with the truths buried deep inside, and awakens parts of you by allowing you to remember that you already knew all of this.” – Bookreview.com
The author’s penchant for far-ranging theories will influence readers to change the way they think about this process called life. Not only will they engage in metaphysical ideas through a fun and engaging story but they’ll also understand metaphysics as a reality through characters they can relate to, even if they have never explored this area before.
