Xlibris author Doris Washington finds many levels of achievement in the self-publishing industry with her book of inspirational poetry.
Those who say there can be little or no success in having your book self-published obviously have not met Doris Washington or heard of the triumph she has had with her book, 'A Blessing, Caring & Sharing'. Nor have they heard how her poetry - drawn from her personal experiences - has led her to not only bless and inspire others, but also to find commercial success, as she recently became the latest recipient of Xlibris' Best Seller Program award.
It was after a painful episode in her family life that Doris found inspiration to create her book of poetry, which she filled with words on her closeness with God, spirituality, autism awareness, her inspirations, positive thinking, social issues in our world and greetings. Doris found peace and healing through her poetry.
She also found a publishing partner in Xlibris and in 2004 decided to have her book of poems self-published. With the release of 'A Blessing, Caring & Sharing', Doris found herself in a path that has led her from one form of success to another.
From touching people's lives on an intimate level with her words to creating statewide awareness for autism, Doris found that her book has opened many doors for her to bless and inspire people. Her book and her poetry have also taken her on readings at nursing homes and residential home facilities, churches, and in the community.
Doris continues to do numerous book signings across the country, where she gets to meet and interact with people who have been touched by her poems. In fact, she has the most number of book signings among the roster of Xlibris published authors.
Doris' success has led to her being inducted into the Xlibris Best Seller Program. This program was designed by Xlibris to recognize, celebrate and support authors who have achieved writing and selling success.
Authors who receive the Best Seller Program award will have their book advertised in the New York Review of Books, be granted Xlibris' Bookstore Returnability Program, and are also given a wealth of printed materials to reinforce the market exposure of the authors' book.
Doris Washington has come a long way with her book. The road of success paved by A Blessing, Caring & Sharing is one that colors the self-publishing industry with infinite possibilities - possibilities that include not only commercial success but also deep, personal fulfillment.
'A Blessing, Caring & Sharing' is available at Amazon.com and at the Xlibris online bookstore.
