Martin Quigley and George Vanderputten are next door neighbors and best of friends. The problem begins over a simple misunderstanding. Both men become convinced the other is guilty of deliberate wrongdoing. War is declared. The former friends, now sworn enemies, become locked in a desperate struggle. The two antagonists bungle their way along as the war escalates, running a gauntlet of mayhem, military incompetence, and all out ineptitude. Retaliation follows retaliation, as each camp attempts to employ greater ingenuity in the use of increasingly underhanded tricks. The results are less than rewarding. In the process they destroy their homes, their property, their business, and their marriages. |
